Our anti-racist research approach: A position paper

This paper is the result of this organisation-wide reflection and starts by outlining how racism manifests at various stages of a typical research or design initiative. In some cases, this is a result of our own actions, decisions or omissions. At other times it may reflect racism within related institutions and wider structures. This overview is informed both by our own experiences, and by the work of others on this topic.

We have also developed and are embedding an Equality Impact Assessment Framework (EIAF) as a routine part of all our research and design activities. The EIAF will help our team systematically and collaboratively consider at an early stage, the ways in which racism and bias could manifest in our work and actively take steps to eradicate racism and other forms of bias from our work.
